Tânia Conte Cosentino has worked to incorporate the Global Goals into her company’s business strategies, including energy efficiency, affordable access to energy and water, sustainable industrial development, smart cities, ethics, diversity and promoting the empowerment of women through inclusion.

As the President of Schneider Electric for South America, she has spearheaded training programmes for the base of the pyramid population, which has driven business expansion in new markets, reduced the company’s carbon emissions and increased trainees’ income. Tânia led the creation of a Sustainability Department in her subsidiary, the first outside of headquarters, and was the first subsidiary to publish a local sustainability report.

Under her leadership, Schneider Electric Brazil participated in Rio+20, COP20 and COP21. Most recently Schneider Electric Brazil launched a female entrepreneurship programme and organized a Sustainability Week in South America to share wisdom on advancing the Global Goals agenda with stakeholders.

The company also is launching Sustainable Leadership Platforms in three Latin American countries to inspire and connect business leaders to take sustainable decisions within their companies. Schneider Electric Brazil is also creating a pilot partnership project with educational institutions in Brazil to research projects that impact the Global Goals — with the goal of applying them to the company’s products.

To further her vision for gender equality, Tânia leads Schneider Electric South America’s HeForShe Program, a UN Women initiative. She is also a member of the company’s Women Advisory Board.

Tânia frequently speaks at corporate and public forums on topics related to diversity and inclusion, energy and climate change, and the Global Goals.
